CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the committee of tho Wellington Cricket ' Association was held in the Sports Federation Rooniß last night. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided.
The secretary of the East Club wrote stating that liis club 'claimed the Third Class match against Wellington B as tho latter team rofused to play after 6 p.m. The East team only required 37 runs to win, and seven wickets to fall, and they considered that thqy could havo won. The referee, J. Morris, wrote confirming this, and stated that the College team stated that they could not play longer as the boarders had to bo at tea at that time. It was decided to send a lott-or to the College Club asking for an explanation. The Auckland Association wroto regarding the Auokland representative tour. Thoy viewed the date suggested for the Wellington match favourably, but in order to do the tour in. "one Journey, they havo aked the council to change tho Canterbury datea, cs it will be impossible to get a team away before Christmas. Received
The Southland Orioket Association wrote stating that dotes suggosted for the Southern tour wero suitable to them. They also agreo to allow t!ho Wellington Association half the gross takings. Received. . It was resolved that a committee, consisting of Messrs. George, Crombio. and Martin should wait on tho Reserves Committee of the City. Council to see what arrangements can be made in connection with the sole use of • tlio pavilion on the Basin Reserve by tho Wellington Cricket Association. In connection with the visit of Mr. D. Reese's Canterbury team, who play a match with Wellington, commencing to-morrow week, it was decided to start the match on the Thursday and Friday at 2 o'clock, and to leave time of commencement on Saturday to the two captains. Messrs. Goldfinch, Mason, and George were appointed a committee to make arrangements for entertaining the team. This is to take the form of a smoke concert on the Saturday night, and some other function on the Friday. The question of sending a team to Marlborough was held over until next week. On the request of Mr, P. Midlane, it was decided to allot a separate wicket at the Basin Reserve to be used nightly for training tfhe colts' of the various Senior clubs playing on the Basin. Mr. Midlane undertook to secure sufficient prominent senior players who would turn out nightly and supervise the ooaohing. If this scheme proves a success, and if the finances will stand the strain, tho training is to be extendi to inclade school boys. THE BOYS' LEAGUE., • At a meeting of tho Wellington Boys' Cricket Leaguo last evening, the telograph messengers' entry of a senior team was accepted. It was 4ecidod to ask tho- Weraroa Farm to play a junior representative team on New Year's Day, and to ask the Wellington Cricket Association to play a representative third-class team against the bost eleven from tho senior boys. Tho following senior boys' Leaguo fixtures wore agreed to:—Marist A v. Telegraph, at Newtown Park: Marist B v. United Methodist, at Wakefield Park; Institute v. Y.M.C.A., at Basin Reserve; St. Anne's, a bye. The junior fixtures aro. as under: — Marist. A v. Kilbirnie, at Kilbirnio; Naumai v. St Paul's, at Kelburno; Y.M.C.A. v. Marist B, at Basin Reservo; Institute v. St. Anne's, at Newtown Park; St. Mark's v. United Methodist, at Wakefield Park.
