Now York, November 3. The campaign for tho New York Mayoralty is exceptionally bitter, through the intervention of ifr. Sulzer, tho ex-Governor of the State. Of the candidates, Mr. Edward M'Call represents Tammany interests and Mr. John Mitchell is tho Fusion nominee. Tho latter Seeks to Break Tammany's power.

Mr. Sulzer has published letters and telegrams purporting to show that Mr. M'Call offered to get "Boss" Murphy to stop tho impeachment proceedings against Sulzer provided Sulzer endorsed M'Call's candidature, and also stop the exposure of Tammany, which Sulzer had threatened. Mr. Sulzer further assorts that he know ho stood in danger of assassination because of his continued participation in tho Mayoralty campaign. , Mr. Mitche'l' is unpopular, because Mr. Hearst supports him, and Mr. M'Call is disliked because Tammany is pledged to elect him. "Boss" Murphy's position is insecure, because the Tammanyites think ho has mismanaged! the campaign.
