At the paying out of the stakes in connection with tho sculling race, several i speakers hoped that Paddon would be sent Home to meet Barry and bring back the championship of the world. Paddon described Artist as a white man; one of the whitest he had mot. _ Arnst hoped that everybody was satisfied with Saturday's race; he was. He added that if Paddon went to England to meet Barry he would lead tho Englishman just as ho had led himself.
SYDNEY OLYMPIC COMMITTEE. Sydney, November 4. Amongst tho offiee-bearors appointed at tho Olympic fund meeting to assist in carrying out the resolution and financially assist the various Olympic oommittces, wero:—Patrons, Lord Denman (Governor-General of Australia) and Lord Liverpool (Governor of New Zealand) ; presidents, tho Lord Mayors and Mayors of tho capital cities of tho Commonwealth and New Zealand. The Lord Mayor of Sydney was authorised to communicate with the Mayors of Wellington, Auckland, Bunedin, Christchurch, and Invercargill, asking that similar meetings be held and a common fund established. The executive committee will shortly issue an appeal and arrange entertainments for the augmentation of the fund. Tho sum required is £10,000.
