BANK OF AUSTRALASIA. •The report of tho Bunk of Australasia for tho half-year ended April 34 st-atia that after providing for rebate 011 bills current, for British and colonial ratea and Uixcjj, for a 10 per cent, bonus to the staff und for all bad. and doubtful debts, tho net profit for the half-year amounted to £2C6,643. To tliia must be added £26,548 brought forward, making a totai of £235.192, out of which tho directors have declared a dividend, at tho rato of 14 per cent, per annum, or £2 16®. per share, and a. bonus at tlio rato of 3 per cent, per annum, or 12e. per ehare, together £3 8«. per share, freo of income-tax. Tho dividend and bonus will absorb £136,000, and the directors havo further appropriated £50,000 to tho Tcservo fund, and £20,000 in reduction of tho cost of ban); premises. There will then remain £29,192 to be carried forward. iJio £400,000 of new capital issued has been fully subscribed, and the interest on tho instalments will bo payable on October 1. The directors havo to record with deep r<*gret tho deaths of their esteemed colleagues, Mr. W*. It. jVrbuthnot, and the Eight Hon. Alfred Lj-ttelton. K.C., II.P. TEADE IN ALLEN STHEET. Tho fruit and vegetable markets are very much disorganised to tho etrl«e. Gome linea are extremely scarce, wane utliers again are very much in exoess of requirements. Fruit—Supplies of pineapples, oranges, lemons, mandarines, Tasmanian apples, and Mildura. lemons cro running out, and prlccs are advancing. The Willochra 19 due from San Francisco to-morrow, and is bringing apples, pears, and onions from California, and bananas from tho Ooolt islands. Tho fruit merchants are wondering whether tho watcreiders hero will follow tho example of tlio Auckland men and offer no obstruction to the landing of laInnd fruit. A few gooseberries from tho Hutt district are coming on the market, and aro realising satisfactory prices. Vegetables.—Cabbages, cauliflowers, and new potatoos aro very much in cicces of requirements. These vegetables are coming from nearby districts by train, and as nothing can be sont on to the weec Coa&t of the South Island, tlio local market is being flooded. Rhubarb ts realif-i'ng extremo prices, because none is being received from the south. Green peas aro in tho samo position, owing to tho absence of supplies from Nelson. Lettuces aro in plentiful supply, and very low prices have to bo accepted to ouit, • . Asparagus meets with a. good demand, but very little is coming forward. Old potatoes aro realising £6 to £8 per ton, according to Quality, but thcco prices will not hold when tho 6t.rito is over. Onions.—Fair stocks are held, and tho market is ruling at £11 to £12 per ton. Further supplies of Oaliforninn are due by tho Willochra. It is uufikely that further supplies of Japaneao will be obtained, as importers lost every heavily over the last lot. ■ Flour has risen to £12 per ton, ex store. Fowls' wheat.—Stocks aro running low, the current quotation is unchanged at 4s. to 4s. 6d. per bushel.' ■ Jlaizo is selling at 4s. 3d. a bushel, lirau.—Good quantities aro held,, and the quotation ia £4 15s. to £5 per ton. Pollard.—Stocks aro on tho iight s'de, and £6 10s. per .ton is tho current value. , Oatmeal.—Leading brands aro selling at £13 to £13 10s. per ton, with very littlo business doiug. 1 tolled Oats.—Thistle brand in <51b. bags, ICe. per dozen; Creamoata, 10s. 6d. Chaff.—The market has advanced, and oatonshoaf chaff is quoted at £6 Ids. to £7 per ton. Eggs aro in plentiful supply, and realising la. 6d. 'per dozen. Tho market will declrno as ■soon as supplies from Nelson and' the south aro available. Butter la IS fair demand, prime milled in bulk i-3 quoted at lOd. per lb. Prussian blue peas are slow of eaio at 6s. 6d. por bushel..
