For St. Mary's Homo, A bright entertainment was held at Mrs. Mayes's residence, Karon, on Friday evening, in aid of St, Mary's Homo. Pile principal items wero two short plays, mounted and acted by a party of local ladies. Tho charming costumes were sot off by appropriate scenery, which had been painted by a Karori gentloman. Tho performances wore warmly applauded by I;he large audience, among whom were to bo seen Mrs. J. Duncan, Mrs. Beauchamp, Mrs. \V. B. Budson, Mrs. Q. Davies, Mrs. j. MacKenzie, tlie Rev. Mr. Hansell and Mrs. Hansell, Mr. and Mrs. 8. V. Waters, ' and Miss lvebble. Several vocal and instrumental items were contributed between tho,plays. • Miss Statham, secretary of tho Auckland Branch of the Victoria League, returned to Auckland last week from New Plymouth, w'iiero she lias been seeing to matters in connection with the caro of the soldiers' graves, a work to Which the . Auckland branch of tho league is devoting much attention. Miss Rodward, who has been the guest of Mrs. Norman James (Masterton) returned to Wellington yesterday. Mrs. Crosse and Miss Freeman loft for Christchurch on Saturday. Miss Dorothy Pollen intends leaving for London via Java, at the end of tho month. Miss Sclanders and Miss Richmond were passengers by tho Mapourika from Nelson on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Western (Picton) have btoi visiting Wellington. Mrs. Kebbell (Now Plymouth) is visiting relatives in Wanganui, and later will arrive in Wellington on a visit to friends. Dr. and Mrs. Blackley are expected to return to _New Plymouth shortly from thoir visit to England. Mrs. A. Wilson, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs. Kennedy, intends returning to Wanganui to-dav! Tho Hon. 0. H. Mills and Mrs. Mills who have been visiting their daughter Mrs. Vivian Donald, in Mastcrton, returned to Wellington yesterday. On at the Parish Church of St. Lawrence, Abbots Langley, Herts., Mr. Basil Binyon, only son of Mr. ana Mrs. Briglitwon Binyon, of Bushey, was married to Miss Gladys Keep, fonly daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Keep, of Abbots Langloy, and granddaughter of Mrs. Chambers and the lato Mr. John Cliamobrs," of Auckland (Now Zealand). On September 20, in Melbourne, As-sistant-Paymaster Basil Miles Peek. R.N., H.M.A.S. Penguin, waß, married to Miss Margaret Ormsby Wellß, daughter of Mr. William B, Wells, of Melbourne. On Thursday (November 13) tho matron of St. Mary's Homo, Karori, will give an afternoon tea, and there, will bo a small sale of x work' done by tho girls themselves. Tho work reflects great credit on the matron and the girls, some of it being very fine indeed. All interested in tho home are invited to bo present. Miss Veda Halse (Groytown) is visiting Wellington. Among people of Australasian interest who have left for the Continent are Lord and Lady Islington, who aro touring the Chateau country, states an English correspondent. A picture of Lady Islington appeared in the "Daily Mail.". She was, the writer continued, to take charge of the seventeenth contury parlour at tho "Daily Mail" House Exhibition, at Olympic, which was to opon in October. Mrs. Kolleston announces that Bhe has a largo selection of tho latest Hairtlressing Accessories. Ladies may depend upon perfect satisfaction in the arrangement of their Coiffures.*
