RECORD NUMBER OF ARRESTS IN 1912.. By TeJojrapli—Press Association—Oopyrisjht "Times"—Sydney "Sun" Special Cables. London, November 1. The police report stows that there were 128,004 arrests in 1912 —the highest on record. The increases occurred mostly in drunkenness, betting and gaming. There wero 99,566 persons convicted. Of twenty-three ascertained murders, nino murderers suicided, and ten wero convicted (five of these being declared insane, and the other five being awarded {he death sentence}. Finger-print identifications for the year totalled 10,677.
