"MYSTERY" LADY'S PARADE

GORGEOUS COSTUME CREATES FURORE. Regent Street, London, was thrown into a fltato of great excitement recently when suddenly, as though from nowhere, a young woman appeared in a costume which baffled tho descriptive powers of the most experienced drapers. She was quite a girl, probably 18 or 19. Her skirt, which was of lloyal blue satin, was cut at tho knees and slashed on tho right side up to tho_ waist. The hat was a creamy-coloured a/fair decorated with a bright red rose. In harmony with this tho young woman wore startling red stockings and goldcoloured shoos. Her progress Up Re-' gent Street arrested the attention of everybody, and soon a crowd of two or three hundred people were following, cheering and booing alternately. Business was suspended at all tho shops whilo tho quaint figure was passing, and a male companion, who at first 'appeared to enjoy the fun, found tho attention of tho public so embarassing that lie disappeared down a side street. Not to the; young woman. She was perfectly at east, and seemed to enjoy the attention she was attracting. Tlio road is "up" in Higher Regent Street, just past Oxford Circus, and her reception from tho horny-lianded workers was enthusiastic. They threw up their caps and cheered loudly. But the point policeman wa« disconcerted; Traffic was being_ 'held up by the girl's admirers and critics. Si> ho took 'her bv tho arm and gently but firmly escorted lior to a taxi-cab. which drove to some unknown destination amid deafening cheers.'
