MASTER DRAPERS.
MATTER OP SPECIAL MEN. A number of employees of ono of tho big drapery houses having been sworn in as special' constables, the Wellington Master Drapers' Association, at the request of the executive of the Assistants' Union, met yesterday to go into, the question as to whether or not it was advisable for the assistants to be sworn in as special constables. It was stated that the employees were members of tho union in tho greater number of instances, and that if they were sworn in as special men, they would bo liable to be called on at any time to do whatever duty they were selected to perform anywhere in the city. Finally it was decided merely to point out to the assistants the seriousness of the situation, and to give them a perfectly free hand to enlist as special constables or not as they think
