TRAVERS 'APPOINTED. , At last night's City Council meeting tho Librarios' ComIjnittee roported that _ they had considered nineteen applications for ' tho position of curator for tho Newtown Museum, and forwarded tho following three, names for tho council's final selection:—J. S. Chisholm, J. C. M'Loan,, |snd H. H. Travers. After considerable disoussion, Mr. Travers was appointed..
The death.' took place in Sydney on' Monday, of Mr. A. W. Farquhar, the eldest son of tho late Captain W. Fnrquliar, of 'the Northern Steamship Company, 'Auckland. The late Mr. Farquhar took an active interest'in rowing when he lived in Auckland, and was ono of tho foundors of the West End Rowing Club. Ho was also known in musical circles. Deceased left for Australia about twenty-five years ago, and latterly he frns located in the West, where he held a responsible insurance billet. Three farming propositions, all described (us splendid, opportunities for tho small man, are advertised for sale by Messrs. W. H. Morrah and Co.
