The following was the result of the race for the CAMBRIDGESHIRE STAKES, a han- ' dicap sweepstake of 25 sovs. each, with 500 sovs. added; second horse 100 6ovs„ and third 25 sovs.. from ' the stake. Lord Harewood's b. c. Cantilever, by Bridge of Canny—Lighthead, 3 yrs, 7st. 21b : 1 Wilson's br. g. Cheerful, by Plaudit—French, 3yrs., Ost. 91b. 2 Sir J. Kolk's br. c. Santair, by Santoi—Helen Blair, 4yrs., 7st. 81b. 3 (Winner trained by C. Leader.) Cantilever stalled off , a challenge from Cheerful, and won by a head. Both tho winner and runner-up were outsiders, but Santair was well supported. Their Majesties the King and Queen motored from Sandringham to Newmarket. This was the Queen's first appearance on a racecourse, except on the occasion of State visits.
