SPECIAL CONSTABLES.
PROVISION FOR MEN & HORSES. The Hon. A. L. Herdman, when he was interviewed by a Dominion reporter last evening, made the following statement in his caiHicity as Police Minister: — '■'I have nothing much to say excepting this: That wo have been busy making preparations for tho reception of the men and horses required to assist the police in keeping order and protecting persons and property. Suitable stabling has been secured for horses. Quarters foT men have been arranged for, beds have been provided,, aiid forage and horse-covers are all available and all the arrangements necessary for carrying out a proper scheme of protection" lire well advanced . It would be well that tho men in the country districts who wish to assist should know immediately that when they come ,to town they will be looked after at once by the local police and that their horses will be well cared for."
