RACEHORSES BARRED.
TRANSIT SOUTH STOPPED. . There was another example yesterday of high-handed action on the part oi the wharf labourers on strike. Sir.' S. Waddell, tho Hon. J. D. Ormond's trainer, had received an assurance from some person in authority amongst the strikers that lie would bo able to ship nine racehorses by lost night's steamer for Lyttelton. When tlie horses were brought in from Trentliara, however, they were not allowed to pass over the wharf. Mr. Waddell was informed by tlie strike leaders that they had changed their minds and that lie must take the
horses back to Trentham. This, having no other alternative, he did. Other owners find themselves in the samo difficulty as Mr. Ormond. Mr. G. Hunter has two 1 horses held up, and Mr. W. J. Douglas has 0110. One of the horses denied the right of passage is Bliss, a well-supported entrant in the Stewards' Handicap.
