ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

MENTAL DERANGEMENT. An inquest was. held by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., Coroner, yesterday, into tho circumstances surrounding tho death of Theodore Augustus Rabe, whose body was found hanging in a lavatory at his residence, in Kelbume, on Tuesday morning, with a bullet wound in the temple. Mrs. Rabe, wife of deceased, gave evidence to the effect that her husband had been regularly at work up to October 27. He had not complained as to his health. He did not sleep well at times. She then described finding the body. In answer to a question by the coroner, witness stated that deceased had twice remarked at table that the end of the world was coming, but she (witness) had thought that this remark had been made in fun. Laurence Johnson, brother-in-law to deceased, gave evidence as to finding the body. thought that deceased had been in his usual state of health prior to thq- occurrence, r.nd that nothing was worrying him. Other evidence was, given by Detec-tivc-Sergeant M'llveney. A verdict was returned that deceased had died from the effect- of a bullet wound in the temple, self-inflicted while in- a state of temporary mental derangement. CHILD & FIREWORKS. A boy named James had his eyes rather sevprely injured as the result of 'playing with fireworks at Petone on Labour Day. (By Telesrapli.—Frees Association.) DETERMINED SUICIDE. , Hamilton, October 29. Joseph Webb, aged 65, an'old Constabulary man, well-to-do, committed tuicide at Hamilton yesterday. Ho was found lying outside the police station with his throat and wrist cut. Ho had been in failing health for some time past. BRUISED HAND &. TETANUS. Auckland, October 29. James Alexander, whilst employed on the steamer Maheno, injured one of his hands through a case falling on it. He was removed to the hospital, . but tetanus set in, ahd death resulted this morning. GORED BY A BULL. Clsborne, October 29. Thomas Walter Revell, a well-known middle-aged settler of Makuri, near Gisborne, was admitted , to a private hospital this morning, _ having been gored by a bull last night. He died this evening. Details are meagre. ReveH leaves a widow and a young daughter. - 'A BODY RECOVERED. Invoroargill, October 29. The body of Patrick Hughes, who was drowned in tho estuary on Sunday, was recovered to-day. An inquest will bo held.
