Looking northward from tho wharf the lights from the vessels at anchor made a line of iridescenco wliich appeared to extend almost tho wliolo distanco from tlio Ngahauranga. shore to Somes Island a glimmering, twinkling bridge across tho dark waters of the bay. Tho names of. the steamers in tlio stream aro the Coriirthic, Athenic, Rimutaka, Dorset, Northern, Hercules, Wairuna, Pohorua, Kaiapoi, Defender, Queen of the South,/Wairau, Huia, Blenheim, Stonnbird, Ripple, Halm, Aorere, and Himitangi. yThese vessels represent ,i tonnngo approximating 57,000 tons. ]f tho strike continues through tho week, the fleet at anchor will bo largely incioased. Tlio T.vser steamer Marere, GW3 tons, is due at the end of tlio present week from Liverpool, via northern ports. This vessel is bringing 2400 tons of genci'al cargo for Wellington. Another Tvser liner, tho Nerehana, C 533 tons, is due from Home ports, via Auckland and Nay lor. 0 n Monday next,

The coastal steamer Mangnpapa is due here towards tlio end of the week with 35,0001't. of timber, and the auxiliary schooner Echo is also expected to arrive within the course oi a few days with 85,000 ft.' of timber for .Wellington.
