NINE RAILWAY ACCIDENTS THIS YEAR.
NEW CONTROL SYSTEM INDICTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, October 27. Nine railway accidents this year were mostly duo to errors in signalling. Six companies are involved. Some persons attribute tho errors to the new control system now in- general operation. The chango ttnds to relievo signalmen of direct responsibility, and makes it increasingly difficult'to keep trace of trains. It is stated that many signalmen livo in daily dr.ead of disaster. Isome of the nowspapers and railwaymen are demanding a special inquiry.
