BUTTER-FAT COMPETITION. (Prom Our Special Corresponaent.) Carterton, October 2S. The champion butter-fat competition In connection with tho 1913 show of tho Wairarapa and East Coast P. and_A. Society attracted some seventen entries. Tho conditions stipulated that tho cows had to bo in tho society's possession six days, tost and weight being taken 1 of tho last eight milkings. The award allowed one point for every 101b. of milk, seven points for every pound of butterfat. Tho breeds entered comprised Hol-stein-cross, Sliortborn-Holstein, Short-horn-cross, Holstein-cross, purebred Ayrshire, Jersey-cross, Ayrshire-Short-horn-cross. Mr. n. Bnssett, of Dalefield, entered the winner, the breed not being recorded. Mr. W. A. Hart, Dalefield, with a Holstein-cross, was second, and Mr. W. S'aywell, Shorthorn-Hol-stoin, third.
