Glaser (musical conductor), and Mr. Frank ltigo (stage manager); also Mr. F. T. Bishop, of Palmerston Norths and Mr. Alfred Little, of Wangamii. Cdnatable S. M'Gilp, of Birkenhead, wlio liias been connected with the police forco for over thirty years, having been stationed in various parts of the Auckland province, particularly in the Bay of Islands, Grey Lynn, and Birkenlicad districts, is about to retire on superannuation at the end of this month. Tbo Birkenhead Borough Council, at their last meeting, instructed tho town clerk to send Sir. M'Gilp a letter in appreciation of his services to tho borougli. The death of Mr. Michael Marrinan,. a very old re-sidont of Ohinemuri Goldfields, occurred at Kkrangahake on Wednesday. Deceased was secretary of Karangahake Minors' Union, and a member of the Ohinemuri County Council. He was well known throughout Hauraki Goidfiolds, and was held in high esteem. The Hon. G. J. Smith, M.L ; O., is to iiiivc from tho south by the Maori this morningThe death occurred at Woodvilje on Thursday of M.r. John -S. G'awith, a well-known resident of that town, at tho age of 63 years. Mr. C. M. Lepper, of New Plymouth, underwent an operation •at his house on Saturday for a complaint from which he has been suffering for sonio little time. Mr. Lepper is .making good progress towards rccovory. Tho death occurred at Geraldine on Wednesday of Mr. Richard Robert Stonehouse, after a very short illness. . The deceased gentleman was a prominent Freemason. .
