Dawson (New Mexico), Oct, 24. Two of the resellers at the Stag Canon mine, in which over 200 minors were entombed as tho result of a terriblo explosion, were killed when tho roof of tho mino coilapscd, and two others barely escaped with their lives, Blackdamp is barring ingress, but attempts to recover tho bodies are still proceeding. Tho progress is necessarily slow. Several of tho rcscued men declare that the' explosion bjr which tho mino was wrecked seemed liko a. volcano eruption. (llec. October 26, 5.6 p.m.) Dawson (New Mexico), Oct. 85. Sixty bodies have boon recovered, including that of the mino superintendent. All those recovered are frightfully mangled and burnt about tho body. SENGHENYDD FUND. (Rec. October 26, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 25. The Senghenydd Mines' Fund now totals £50,000, which includes. £1000 which was toliected from tho exhibition of l'rince Arthur of Coimaught's wedding presents. NEW THEORY OF VENTILATION. London, October 24 Professor Hill, in a lecture at Bristol University, ascribed tho explosions in mines recently to improved ventilation. Explosions could bo prevented if tho oxygen in' the air wore lowered from 20 to 17 per cent of tho This would not be deleterious to tlio miners. Exce'ss of carbonic acid in a crowded room was not prejudicial; oxygon was never diminished more than 1 per ccnt.
