October 26, 5.8 p.m.) ' Sydney, October 26. .' > At Bnkor's Stadium last night, Davfl , Smith, tlio New Zealander, defeated Pat Bradley, tho Irish-American, in the contest for tho light-heavyweight boxing championship of Australia. The bout went tho full twenty rounds, Smith winning on points. . Originally the contest was fixed for September 13. but it was postponed oil account of Bradley having injured hia fingers in his match against Jerry Jerome, of Queensland. A second postponement was rendered necessary an account of tho illness of Smith. The latter is to meet ■ Bill Lang for the. heavyweight championship of Australia at f Melbourno on November 5. BOYS' INSTITUTE TOURNEY. The initial boxing tourney was held at the Boys' Institute, Arthur Street, on Friday night, Mr. C. Bridge-officiat-ing as judge. Mr. W, Ileenali, the in- " . structor, was presented with a set of brushes by Mr. 0. K. Dick, oil behalf of tho boys, Mr. Dick and Mr. Bennett {director)" referring to tho excellent work done' by Mr. Heenan in instructing the boys. - The championships resulted as follow Bantam-weight (junior), H- Seoriuge: light-weight (junior), L. After the filial bad been fought, tbo referee called for (mother rewind, _ again ho could not decide* and both boys were brackfited for the cKai.npioriship. As nobody was matched against O'Flaherty ho was awerded tho heavyweight cliampionship. s
