It exhausted its supply of oxygen in resuscitating those who had collapsed. Eventually all were brought to the surface, several being in a critical condition. Other rescuers, after getting withinj thirty yards of the face, were drivoii back by tlio gas. They saw maaiy bodies terribly shattered. Tho advanco in another portion of tho mine was impeded by heavy falls from tho roof, i Tho rescuers were within thirty yards of tho coal face. They found a large number of bodies, some decapitated and dismembered, Further operations have been postponed till Friday owing to the danger from tho gas. The relief funds now - stand .at £30,000.
