HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. ''Foolish the' American burlesque comedian, nightly amuses a big audience at His Majesty's Theatre. This is easily one of the most laughable turns seen in Wellington- Miss Gabriello Hope's dexterous playing is also greatly ajipreoiated, judging from tlio'generous rounds of applause her turn receives. Other good items on the programme are "The Three Breeves" (musical artists), "Desperado and La Rose" (clever contortionists and aerial artists), and Delavalo and Gilbert. TOE ICING'S THEATRE. Patrons' of tlio King's Theatre are finding the Kalem star drama, "Shipwrecked," very 'much to tlicir taste, and good houses'have been the result. The plot, be'sides being full of" novel situations of an exciting nature, also possesses the merit of 'being rather original in its conception. Supporting the star film are some excellent subjeots, "The Girl and the Judge" (Selig drama), and "Our Pets" (nature study), being about til© best. EMPRESS THEATRE. ! A new programme was screened at tlio Empress Theatre yesterday, the chief film being a dramatic study entitled "The Adopted Brother."' An adopted youth is imposed upon, by his foster brother who spends the former's money in drinking with an ovii companion. The two loafers waylay a man and -viciously assault and rob him. The adopted brother sees the crime and discloses the identity of the assailants. They are arrested, and resolve to kill tlio informant. They escape from gaol and proceed to seek revenge. The adopted brother is warned, and, mounting his horso, 'he gallops away, while the other two, on stolen steeds,, follow; in pursuit. A young novelist who has been befriended by the adopted' brother also piomits "his horse, and- goes to his assistance. When the would-be murderers are closing up on the fugitive _ the novelist shoots them down. The climax is thrilling, and tlio excitement is work<>d_ up in the A.B. Company's characteristic style. Other good pictures are: "The Drop of Blood" (Vita drama), "The Blind Basket Weaver" (drama), "Historical Hastings" (scenic), and "Auntie's Affinity ". (comedy). SHORTTS' THEATRE. A Vitagraph drama entitled "The Web," is the star picture at Shortts' Theatre. It describes how a young man named Phillips determines to disentangle himself from Beatrice Esmond, whose lover —Zolan—is wildly jealous of him. Beatrice invites Zolan to poison' tho mind of Agatha Remington, who is engaged to Phillips. Finally the two quarrel, and Zolan shoots Beatrice and Phillips is arrested for' the murder. The closing scenes depict how tlio real murderer is apprehended, and the reconciliation of Phillips and Agatha Remington. "Tlio Heart of a Boll" is a pretty story, in which a clever child plays a leading part. Among otlier good pictures are "A Trip to the Mill Dam (scenic), and the latest " Gaumont Granhic." MISS CALDOW'S CONCERT. At the Town Hall to-night, the musical public will have an opportunity of hearing Miss Mina Caldow, the popular contralto in classical, modern, and popular songs. Miss Caldow's chief items are "Tile Rosary" (Nevin), "The Wanderer" (Schubert). "Until" (Sanderson), "The First of Juno" (Oliver), "Nearer, My God, to Thee" with organ accompaniment, and that charming aria "Avanera," from Bizet's opera. The "Blackpool Times" wrote of Miss CWdow's singing of this alia: "Miss Caldow showed ovidenee of high operatic ability, and sang this gem with all the soulfulness and depth of feeling that it is eapable of inspiring in a great artist such as Miss Caldow undoubtedly is."
