—1» — NATIVE LAND COURT RECORDS DISAPPEAR. (By Tclcsmiph.—Press Assoo.to.tlon.l ' Chrlstchurfih, October 22. Tho Native Lands Court for the South Island was to have been opened at Kaiapoi to-day bv Judge Gilfedder, but, as the records had gone astray, he could not do so. The records aro contained in two large casw, and, while they would- not be of valu-s to ail ordinary thief, they are of the greatest value to the Court. They have gone missing between Wellington and Kaiapoi. Tho cases contain the minutes of the Court from the first Nptive Land Court held- in Christehurch in 1868 down to tli© present, as well as a great mass of Maori lore given in evidenoo. and traditions, genealogies, eto., ol great historical value.
