ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual general meeting of th< Wellington Philosophical Society wa; held at tho Dominion Museum las evening. Professor T. H. Easterfielc was in the chair. Tho annual report and balance-shee were adopted. Speaking 011 tho report, Mr. G. V Hudson remarked on the almost com plete disappearance during the pas year from meetings of the society 0 original papers 011 Now Zealand natura ! history. He also "deprecated the parti tion of the society into a 0 sections, each dealing with its particu lar phase of work, in his opinion, om large society would serve better. Tho following motion was moved b; Mr. Morgan for Professor Picken, whi was unavoidably absent: —"Any mem ber who shall not have paid the year'; contribution on or before the first da; nf June shall be'formally notified t< that effect by the secretary: and shouli two years' contributions bo in- arrear 011 that date, the said member shall b< informed that it will be necessary fo: tlie council, at its next ensuing meet ing, to remove his (or her) name fron the roll of members, unless tho arrear have been paid up: provided ahvay that tho council shall have power to re lax this rule, for sneeial reasons as signed and recorded in its minutes." The motion was carried unanimously The annual election of officers result rd as follows:—President. Dr. C. Monr. Hector; vice-presidents. Professor Kir: and Mr. T. King. F.R..A.5.: council Professor T. H. Easteriield, Dr. Thorn son, and Messrs. R. W. Holmes, 13. C Aston, E. Parry, P. G. Morgan, and G Hocbcn; secrotarv .and treasurer, Mi C. E. Adams; auditor, Mr. C. B. Dy mock. At tho conclusion of the business, a: interesting paper was read by Mr. .T. G B. Fulton on "Phosphorus and Pho? pborie Acids." At the conclusion of the reading, Di Thomson, in the course of <t shor speech, remarked that the'matter wri nf great interest, and he congratulate Mr. Fulton on tho results of his invest Rations.
