' A meeting of tho Motor-Cyclo sube committee of tho Wairarapa Automobile s Association was held at Featherston, on Tuesday, Mr. M. Elgar in the chair. A e letter was received from the Wairarapa Racing Club consenting to the assoeiation having the use of the Tauherenikau '■ Racecourse on December 4, for tho pur•J pose of holding a motor-cycle sports !' meeting: The clerk of the Licensing 13 Committee wrote advising the procedure necessary ill applying for a license to " open a publican s booth at the gathering. Letters, were also received from 1, several firms in the-motor trade, promising donations to t'he prize fund, and it the Wellington Motor Cycle Club notified that every assistance would bo given 1 by its members in the way of entering for the various events. After considerable discussion in connection with tho dato of the proposed meeting, it was 7 resolved, on the ffiotion of the chair--10 man, seconded by Mr. W. G. Miller, that owing to unforeseen circumstances, the ie sports ho postponed until January 15. TAIHAPE. The new Church of the Holy Rosary at Mataroa was opened by Coadjutor ■j Archbishop O'Shea on Sunday, when there was a largo congregation, in spite ■" of the unfavourable weather. _ The v i church was blessed by the Archbishop, B > after which Mass was celebrated, and an interesting sermon preached bv His ,v Grace. On Monday evening, His Grace 3r was entertained at a conversazoine, at which thoro was a large attendance. ',7 An excellent programme of vocal and musical items was contributed to by the j following:—Misses Connolly, Warren, I and M'Keowen, and Messrs. Somerville and M'Lean. An address of welcome was presented to the Archbishop by s " Mr. J. M'Cartin, and His Grace made 11_ an appropriate reply. s ' In connection with the screening of the photographs of a number of dren who attended the recc-nt fancy dress ball, the voting as to the best costumes resulted as follows: —Master Tyson ("Ancient Greek"), 1; Master An- • drews ("Uncle Sam"), 2.
