SWIMMING. ONE MAN ONE CLUB RULE. OLD BOYS' CLUB. The chief business dealt with at tho annual meeting of tho Old Boys' Swim- > ming Club, held last evening, was the ' adoption .of a motion favouring tho " 0110 man one club " system. Mr. M. C. Barnett presided. Mr. E. Levy moved as follows:—" No member of tho Wellington College Old Boys' Swimming Club may belong to any other swimming club el in Wellington, private clubs excepted, i.e., clubs that do not competc in inter- J? club championship events. In support of his motion the speaker Hi stated that at present the sport of & swimming was in a stato of chaos. A J' swinunor could join as. many clubs as lie C o wished, and in the long run ho did not know where he was. Tlio boys leaving K college drifted into any club, and it was tho duty of the Old Boys' Club to look 60 after them. W Mr. Russell expressed the opinion that the matter should be hold over for somo j{ ( timo. He thought it premature. Si Mr. It. S. Pope agreed with the last & speaker. If tho motion were adopted, it might be to tho detriment of tho j;, iclub. Mr. L. Blundell said that ho was not Bl in favour of tho motion at present. Ho B considered 1 that it would bo a very wiso to plan to wait and seo the result of tho Wellington Club's action in adopting fr tho system. 1 f r Mr. Pope then moved that consideration of tho matter bo delayed for ono year. t c Mr. H. Capper seconded tlio amend- ri ment. Mr. Levy spoko strongly W against it. Ho thought that it would bo a great mistake to-_ wait for a year. 11( ' Tlio chairman said ho understood Li that- the "one man ono club" system was for the purpose of wiping out tho evil of "pot hunting." 110 would not p ; like to seo anything like "pot-hunting" H creeping into the Old Boys' Club. jf Mr. W. E. Bet'huns agreed with the m chairman's remarks, and expressed him- E self as being in favour of Mr. Levy's g motion. . Mr. V. Wiso supported the motion. The amendment was' lost by nine votes to five, and tho motion carried by ton votes to two. 'n< Mr. H. Jenkinson moved to the effect that tlio club's delegates bo urged at the meeting of the Wellington Centre f c to recommend the selection of the Wellington Representative polo as lc early as possible, so that members would jf bo able to have somo training beforo the Now Zealand championships. Mr. fo Capper seconded the motion, which was B carried. The chairman intimated his intention ni of donating a trophy for competition amongst members of tho club. n 1 The following officers were elected: — Si President, Mr. J. I'.
