Some four months ago the Minister of Marino (tiio Hen. F. M. D. Fisher) communicated with tko Japanese Imperial Fisheries Bureau at lokio in reference to tlio purchase ,of a consignment of gold fish and other ornamental flpli in Japan iii order that it might bo placed oil view nt tho Auckland Exhibition, In a letter which the Minister has just received from the Director of tho Bureau, it is stated that when the leTFer was received the matter was placed in tho hands of Mr. Akiyama, a. gold fish culturist in Tokio. As a result, a shipment of COO gold fish and ■over 600 oilier fish was collected and dispatched by tho steamer fitngo Maru, ivliich left Yokohama for Sydney on October 11. Arrangements [or the transhipping of tho fish at Sydney to Auckland will bo matl® by tlio Marine Department. The ultimate disposal of the iish after the conclusion if tho Exhibition has yet to bo decided. Field Marshal ■Low!
