Vegetables.—Cauliflowers are in strong demand; carrots aro realising extremo rates. • Cabbages are in plentiful supplj- 1 , and low prices rule. Iliitt-grown rhubarb is coming forward in much smaller Quantity, and the Quality is only medium. Some very fine eainples, however, are coming from Canterbury, and realise satisfactory prices. Supplier of lettuce are m excess of requirements; some very line camples of asparagus arc coming on tho morkct, and fair prices are being realised. Fruit—The Wostralia, with transhipments ex Talune, from the Cook Island.?, reached port yesterday. The pineapples wero condemned for fumigation because of being infected with the mealy bug. Tho sound oranges and bananas realised very high rates. The pineapples will be on offer to-day. The Sydney steamer, due today is bringing only a light shipment of pineapples* sweet oranges, passion fruit, Seville oranges, lemons and ioquats. Tho Navua is due from Fiji to-morrow, and is bringing a moderate consignment of bananas in bunches and casca Regular weekly shipments of Tasmanian apples and Milduro, lemons arrive every Friday. WAIIiAIIAPA BRICIv & TILE CO. ' t ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Brick, Tile, and Drain ' 3'ipo Company, Ltd., wa-s held yost-erday morning at Carterton. Tho chairman of directors (Mr. J. A. Dudson) presided. The fourteenth annual report and bal-ance-sheet contained the following:—"The year's working shows a. profit of £912 175., and after writing off £108 17s. Id. last years loss, and £198 15s. 6d. for depreciation of plant and buildings, wo recommend paying a dividend of 6 per cent., amounting to £190 <0. on paid-up capital, and to carry the balance, £415 Is. 5d.. to reserve account. Wo propose building a new kiln and drying shed to enable us to keep pace with the increased demand for our goods, ilr. W. Downard, r. director, resigned his position during the year, and Mr. W. Howard Booth has been elected to the vacancy. Two directors, Messrs. A. If. Kraghan.and T. G. Underbill, retiro by rotation, but, being eligible, offer themselves for re-election." In moving its adoption, the chairman congratulated tho shareholders upon the result of tho year's operations, which was largely duo to the increased demand, for the company's goods and tho better prices ruling. An increase in trade was represented by £758, and tho prospects for the coming year were bright. To enable the company to eope with tho increased trade it was proposed to erect a new pipe kiln at a oo*t of £450, using up one of the old brick kilns in-" its construction. It was also proposed to erect a drying shed, and the new additions would give the company power to handle £1000, «*orth more goods. , Additional time-saving machinery li-nd aWo been installed. Mr. F. Beyond an occasional odd lot-there is 110 wheat, or «.ats offering, and practically no inquiry. With the exception of a largo line of cats {here is no quantity of grain stored in the wool i.'torca.
