Tlio Manawtttu Flaxmili Employees' Union will make a presentation (to the president, Mr. Gavin Stone, who has oeeu appointed organiser in tho King Country. Tho union has decided to demand more wages, fewer hours, bettor conditions, and will submit their demands to the employers a.t a meeting nest Saturday.

An interesting railway ticket caso was heard in tho Magistrate's Court Yesterday. Alfred E. Storey, employed by a milking machine company, travelled by tourist ticket from Auckland to l'almorston and there transferred the return half to a fellow-employee, Herbert Chapman, who travelled by it to Auckland. Counsel for the defence contended that .the action was a breach of contract only, as tho Department did not loso any money. The Magistrate imposed a fine of ss. on each man, and said that- ho expected that tho ticket would bo returned to Storoy by tho Department who had impounded it. NAPIER. QTAKI. A motor-car and a bus collided on Saturday night, but luckily neither had much way on, and. therefore lite damage was slight. Another motor mishap occurred on Sunday, when, owing to a tiro becoming detached, a car collided with an embankment. Luckily no harm was done. The recent rains had the effect of scouring away a portion of the approach of tlio Wait'olm bridge, holding up traffic on the road for several hours. Groynes in the Waikanao Biver were also damaged. Several of the culverts, which wero insufficient for last week's rain, are also to be replaced, and thus a recurrence of flooding prevented.

7AIHAPE. The bazaar in aid of the Taihape Methodist Church was brought to a close on Saturday, after a successful run of three nights. The'photographs of about 90 of tho children who attended the recent fancydress ball wero thrown on tho screen at tho Three Stars'-Theatro on Friday evening, and proved such an excellent attraction that the building was packed. Munro stated that tho townspeople had donated over £50 in prizes for the last sports meeting. Over £9 worth of refreshments had been consumed by committeemen who did no work, £15 had been paid for labour which should have been done by the committee, and the secretary's salary amounted to £20. Ho advocated that tlio secretary's position bo an entirely honorary one, and aftor considerable'discussion this was agreed to, Mr. W. J. Munro being elected by ballot, the other nominee being Mr. C. C. Wansbrough, Mr. Q. Bowles, who has been relieving Mr. G. C. Smith, locomotive foreman, left on Saturday for the north. ■ Extensive additions are being made to the Taihapo Tost Office. Mr. Cicary, of Wanganui, has taken up duty in the money-order branch of the local post office in plaeo of Mr. W. Cryer, who has been promoted to Wanganui. CREYTOWN.
