The de* ' puties arrested a gang of strikers 'alleged to bo involved in an attack on strikebreakers, and marched them ■ thirty ' miles across country, overawed 'by a raachino gnn. . Despite this, armed minors attempted a rescue, and somo shooting followed. Later, when an unarmed deputy entered tho strikers' camp with the object of parleying, carrying a white flag, tho miners shot him dead. Tho deputios thereupon turned tho machine guns looso ; killing many of the miners. A battle is proceeding. Militia have been dispatched to the sceno. 1
