Somo anxiety is being felt in shipping circles as to tho whereabouts of am apxiliary fishing cutter To Huia, whichj left "Wellington on Tuesday, October for in charge of Captain J v Johnson, of Kaiapoi, and another man< • With tho assistance of a strong nonth-i east wind tho little vessel made a smarti trip south, and oil tho afternoon ofj Thursday, October 9, was sighted fifiteeiu miles off shore by tho signalman at Ad>derley Head, Lyttelton. Unfortunately a southerly gale then sprang up and, being unable to face the elements, tlwi, To Huia had to turn back and run with, the gale. Since then, nothing has been Been or heard of her, although a sharp look-out has been kept by several vessels. On tho night that tho To Huiaj was compelled to go back, a galo raged, furiously, and the Mararoa and Warrimoo had very protracted voyages t-o '' Lyttelton. The vessel was purchased in Welling-i ton by Captain Johnson and it was his intention to use her in the Ljrtteltoni Kaikoura fishing trade; Ho is wolj known in Now Zealand, especially in, Wellington and Lyttelton, having heert for many years in charge of the scliooiier Amelia Simms. He is an experienced mae-i ter, but the absence of any tidings is •causing some anxiety for the vessel's safety. i .
