DENTIST THEATRE.

THE IDEA AFOOT IN LONDON. The Goronet Theatro, London, has been leased by tho ActressesJ Franchiso League for tho week beginning December 8, when Brioux's new feminist play "La Femme Seule" will bo produced in a translation by Mrs. Bernard shaw, states an English newspaper. There will also be a revival of Mr. Farquharson Sharp's version of Bjornson's "A Gauntlet." This short season, if it succeeds, may lead to tho setting up of a "woman's theatre," or theatro managed by women in the interest of tho | women's movement. The preliminary j season is being organised by a commit- j tee representative- of all branches of suffragist activity, including Lady Cowdray, Miss Cicely Hamilton, Lady j Meyer, Mrs. Bernard Shaw,'' Mr. and Mrs. Harben, and many others. Leading actors and actresses have promised to help. Financially tho success of tho week is already beyond doubt. Profits will be divided between the Actresses' Franchise League and other societies. The money has been raised by guaran- j toes'of one sovereign, for which sum tickets aro allotted to the valuo of 255. Cd., one ticket for ono seat in each part of ithe house. The 'scheme is being widely supported, and it is hoped that it will bo tho precursor of a permanent season for tho presentation of plays dealing with some phase of tho women's j movement. It is probable that the ac- ™ tors and actresses for the first week 1 will givo their services, but tho promot- | ers aim finally at establishing a theatro, | on a sound commercial basis, managed 1 co-operatively by tho women's organisa- | tions. There will cortainly bo no want | cither of feminist dramas or of actors 8 and actresses sympathetic to tho ideas, | and there should bo no doubt about sup- .§ port from tho public. There is in * London a largo population of highly educated theatre-goers anxious- (quite apart from the suffrage fiido of it) for opportunities of seeing advanced plays on the stago.
