CURES AT LOURDES

1_ The Roman section, of the Italian. national pilgrimage to Lourdes ha 9 re-" turned, and tho members are full of pious enthusiasm about their experiences at the renowned shrine . (writes tho Rome correspondent-of the "Catholic Times"). They have also.the pleasing information that, at least three cures occurred amongst tho one hundred and thirteen invalids who travelled with tho pilgrimage. These three have been testified to on oath by tbreo Italian medical doctors, who accompanied the pilgrims, and_ accepted at tho Bureau des Constatations at Lourdes. The doctors in their sworn statement say that other Italian doctors as woll as Belgian and French medical ones, who were present, agree with them as t-o the cures. Besides those three, which will bo kept under observation for a year before being finally accepted as- authentic, there aro eighteen other, cases of. wonderful improvement amongst the sick who formed part of tho Italian pilgrimage. These also will be watched with careby the doctors. The medical men signing tho declaration are: Doctors Carlo Barzini, of Milan; Peter PiL-ito, of Vercelli: and Themistocle Santopadre, of Rome. And tho three persons cured are: Sister Catherino Yizio, of Genoa, who was suffering from a long-standing and dangerous abscess* in tho neck, and was operated on in vain: Monsignor Andrea Tini, Vicar-General of Assisi, who was so crippled from artritis that he had tho privilege from the Holy Father of celebrating Mass while seated; and Miss Maria Colombini, of Gallarate. near Milan, who for eight years suffered from progressive ulceration of the stomach.
