CASEIN OR CHEESE.
THE CASE FOR -THE BUTTER FACTORY. At a meeting of suppliers to the Bunnythorpe Dairy Co. on Monday the merits, of casein-making versus cheesemaking were discussed at considerable length. During the argument, Mr. Ransom maintained that during the past eleven years there had not been one cheese factory that had paid better than the butter factories. This statement was warmly contested. Mr. F. W. Vickerman, manager af the New Zealand Casein Co., Ltd., Aramoho, writing in reference to the above, states that last year several butter factories were ahead of the average cheese factory pay-out, and he appended the following table to prove his assertion: — i Butter- Tl.porlb. Factory. Fat. Casoin. fi.F. 801 l Block ... 13.8 1.26 "14.83 Waitara 13 1.25 14.25 N. Taranaki... 12.875 1.26 14.125 Midhirst 12.74 1.25 18.99 How many cheeso factories, he asks, can show better returns? Casein manufacture, h® goes on to state, is booming this year, and the present daily output at Aramoho : s equal to the highest daily output in tko last season's flush.
