SIEVIER'S LIBEL SUIT.
THOSE 700 SOVEREIGNS. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyrislrt London, Ootober 16. In the libel case RoWt Sievier v. Peroy Bono, a solicitor, and Thomas Dey, a bookmaker, for circulating a typewritten sheet alleging that Sievier had blackmailed Dey for £1000 in connection with an advertisement published in' Sievier's paper, "The Winning Post," a bank clerk gave evidence that .Dey cashed a cheque for £700. receiving sovereigns. This cheque and one for £300 were made out to the "Winning Post," and were consecutively numbered. Siorer, in his examination, denied tho statement that Dey gave him ,£7OO which he (Dey) had speoially fetched from the bank in gold, and handed over in the presence of Edward Siever, a cousin of Robert's, who died in i January last. In the witness-box Dtiy repeated his story, adding that after Siever had receievd J3700 he published a complimentary editorial in tne ""Winning Post" instead of ono of a disgusting nature disclosing Dey's past life.
