OFFICERS FOR TRAINING.
TWO MORE LEAVING FOR HOME. Captain R. B. Smyth©, Adjutant of Field Artillery, Dunedin, and Captain 0. W. Melvill, Instructor in Infantry Duties, Auckland District, aro leaving for England during tho noxt fortnight for a two-years' course at tho StaffCollege, Camberwell. The following officers from Now Zealand aro . now at tho Staff College:— Major M. M. Gardiner (R.N.Z.A.), Major G. S. Richardson (N.Z. Staff Corps), and Captain R. 0. Qhesney (N.Z. Staff Corps). Captain J. E. Duigan, of the Staff Corps, is at the Staff College, Quetta, India. With tho exception of Captain Melvill, all these officers served in tho R.N.Z.A. They .will complete a two-years' course at the colleges to fit them for positions on tho General Staff, and will thon protlibly undergo some months of practical training with the troops. From their number tho British officers now in New Zealand will be gradually replaced. Two artillery officers —Secondlieutenants Davios and Turner —who have already been at Home for a year, ihave had thoir terms extended, and will put in an eight-months' gunnery' course before returning to Now Zealand for service in the Field Artillery.
