Tho rates proposed are: —Moulders, 10s. thousand •square, day work; fancy off bearers, Is. 4a. per hour; pieco workers, Is. thousand; table boys, Bd. thousand; setters and drawers, Is. 4d. hour; clay fillers, Is. 4Jd. hour; burners, 10s. shift; pottery workers, Is. 3d. hour. Tho employers declined the increases. After a fruitless discussion tho case waa ordered to go to the Arbitration Court. "Soon it will, bo quite useless'coming to tho council at all,'' remarked a ■unionist. "No result is over secured, ovory case going to tho Court." LIBRARY BURNED. Dunedliii October 16. The Publio Library at Alexandra South has been destroyed by fire. Tho building was insured for £85, and tho booka and fittings for £190, in the Royal Office. LOST ON MT. PEEL. Tlmaru, October 10. Mr. 0. M. Burdon and his son Eustace, Mr. Scott and his sister, and Mr. A. Woodbury, a party who wero'loston Mount Peel on Tuesday, were safely found by search parties last night.
