CENTRAL PARK.
PLANS AND DONATIONS. • Tho City Engineer has prepared a plan showing the suggested future layout of tho proposed Central Park on the Town Belt between Ohiro Road and Nairn Street. The Reserves Committee has unanimously approved tho plan, and thoy havo recommended tho council to agree to the work involved being undertaken in the following order:— 1, Rock garden; 2, children's play stations'; 3, main walks shown on plan. Tho council has agreed, and His Worship tho Mayor will turn tho first sod at the garden on Monday, October 27 (Labour Day), at 11 a.m. • Councillor Frost reported at last night's meeting of tho City Council that the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) had offered to donate ornamental gates for tho nark, and that Messrs. Blundell Bros, had offered £100 towards a fountain for tho grounds. Tho council thanked the donors.
