It is stated that 2000 _ of potatoes liavo been planted in tho T\'aikato district this season. By the loss of tho s.s. Tyrone ' at Otago Heads, many of the Southland dairy factories are likely to be seriously inconvenienced, as the vessel had on board a largo quantity of the salt required.for the season's' work. Factories having only a small quantity of salt carried over from last season, are anxiously inquiring as to the purchase of small quantities to'keep them going. In tho meantime, says the "Southland News," merchants have ordered fresh supplies by cablegram, but these are unlikely to arrive insido of threo months.

The average lambing percentage in tho Alfredton district is said to be 90.

The Paliiatua A. and P. Association has decidcd to hold its annual dairy cow competition on December 6 and 7. The milk supply at the Kaitawa Clieeso Factory has now reached 1000 gallons a day. ' This is 200 gallons more than was received daily during the corresponding period of last year.
