Tho Ashburton Co-operativo Dairy Factory Company, Ltd., has had' a very successful opening, and at present tho supply of cream is much larger than for a similar period last j-car. The output of butter is daily increasing, and •the company has been compelled to commence exporting.
Tho amount to bo paid to suppliers of the Te Aroha Dairy Company for September is ,'£4Bld lis. For tho same period of last year tho total was £4019 Is. Bd.
Tho impregnation of New Zealand butter with water in Vancouver was tho subject of a question addressed to tho Minister of Agriculturo (the Hon. }V. F. Massey) by Mr. H. J. H. Okey in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr. Okey "asked whether the Minister's attention had been drawn to the, practice, and whether lie would take_ steps to bring tho matter -beforo the interested authorities. '"This matter," 110 said, "was brought. beforo a meeting of tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce, w'here it was shown by a statement in a Vancouver paper that New Zealand butter had been treated there by machinery until it was made to hold 28 per cent, of water. It was also shown that tho output of ono firm of adulterated or - loaded butter was from 12001b. to 15001b. per day."
