Rcakes, Director of tlio Live Stock and Meat Division of tho Agricultural,Departmont, had. stated that fully 25 per cent.- of tho dairy farmer's income should bo dorivod from a properly-equipped piggery. Tho paragraph went on to stato that tho samo authority (Mr." Reakes) had asserted that bacon could bo produced for 3Jd. or 4d. per lb., and yot consumers had to pay from Is. to Is. 3d. pqr lb. for good bacon in tho shops. When seen yesterday Mr. Reakes Said that the s.tatomens .ho was; alleged to have made wero absolutely' inadd .thathe had nev.er said anything of the kind at Feilding or elsewhere.
