NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS THE SECOND DAY. (By Telegraph.—Prees Association.) Duneilin, October 14. Tho New Zealand Golf Championship Meeting was continued to-day. Some very creditable performances were put up. Both A. D. Duncan and B. B. Wood showed improved form, Duncan so much so that ho takes the leading place in the qualification rounds for the amateur championship, Wood following, ; six strokes to the bad. Duncan was drawn against D. Hood, the Christ- , church professional, and led him all the way. x Tlio open championship, which had resolved itself into a contest among the resutled in a good win to E. S. Douglas, of Nelson. Douglaa played sound golf. His style is very pretty, and talcing the conditions into account tho performance is a remarkable example of consistency. Ho was driving well, putting well, and made few errors through the green, While'some of his approach shots were very fine. He learned his golf in Scotland, and was two years in America before coming to Neiv Zealand. In conjunction with the qualifying rounds for the amateur championship, an inter-club challenge vase match was played, resulting in a win for a Christehurch combination.
