PROFESSOR JAMES STUART. Br Ttlier&ph—Ptcas Association—GopyrielH London, October 13. Professor James Stuart, of Norwich, is dead. Professor Stuart, from 1575 to 1889, Professor of Mechanism at Cambridge University. In 1881 ho entered Parliament as member for Hackney; from 188 c to 1000 was member for Hoxton (Shoreditch), and from 1006 to 1910 member for Sunderland. From 1898 to 1901 ho was Lord licctor at St. Andrew's University. Ho founded the system of University extension and the mechanical workshops in Cambridge. His publications include a volume of "Reminiscences," and a number of articles and pamphlets on eilucatioual, political, and scientific subjects. SIR. JOHN BATTYTUKE. (Rec. October 15, 0.15 a.m.) London, October 14. Sir Jolm Battytuko, member foi Edinburgh and St. Andrew's Universities, and formerly surgeon to the colonial troops in New Zealand, is dead.
