Knight, Wellington; Mr. William .Bailey, Wellington; Mr?. Chambers, Invercargill; Miss Arthur, Dunedin: Mr. R. W. M'CaJhim, Wellington; Miss A. Kirkwood, Dunedin: Mr. and Mrs. George Pearce, Taranaki; the Misses Ada and Dora Blackmore, Groymouth; Mr. Harry and Miss E. M'Leod, Hastings; Mr. N. Dalston, Wellington; Mr. A. 8. Watson, Auckland; Mr. C. S. Arthur, Picton; Mr. Joseph and Miss Joyce Darragli, of Feilding. Mr. George Pcarce, of Waitara, lias been in London with his wifo and .Miss Elsio Pearce for some months, travelling over ihe United Kingdom and Ireland. They loave Liverpool for Now York by the Lusitania on September 13 to spend some weeks in America, joining the Makura at Vancouver for Now Zealand.
Miss A. Kirkwood and Miss Michie, of Dunedin, aro in England after a trip through America. Tlioy remain till the ond of tho year. Dr. H. Darling (Oamaru), lately of Lincoln Hospital, has taken up an appointment as assistant medical officer to the Marylobone Infirmary. Mr. G. Knight, of Auckland, who arrived in May, has been studying municipal methods in some of tho big centres and paying special attention- to traffio problems. Mr. Leslie Joffcoat, son of the lato Dr. Joffcoat, of Dunedin, who is 111 his final year of medicino at Edinburgh, poisoned his right hand, but is, after a couple of minor operations, now progressing in tho Students' Ward at', tho Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh. Lady . Ward and Miss Ward are at present staying at the Langham Hotel. They intend leaving for Now Zealand by tho P. and 0. Medina on September 19.
The Hon. Thomas Mackenzio spoilt, a few days in the neighbourhood or Sheffield last week, tho guest of Mr. Joseph Dixon, at Oughtibridge. He was interviewed by tho "Sheffield Telegraph." "People in this country wlio go out to New Zealand," 110 said, "must bo prepared to adapt themselves to the now, conditions they find there. Otherwise they had bettor stay at home. New Zealand is. intensely patriotic, is full of enterprise; is not held back by long years of tradition,_ and perhaps prcjuclico, as England is. There is a good deal of self-denying work to bo laced. We welcome the people who are propared to make thomselves one with us; but wo have 110 room for mere critics. I should regard it as an impertinence if New Zealand people attempted to criticise tho Government of Britain; it is an equal importinence for Britishers to want to intcrforo in our homo affairs."
