FAREWELL TO PASTOR.

REV. MACDONALD ASPLAND. Tho Rev. A. Macdonald Aspland and Mrs. Aspland wore farcwelled last evening by members of tho Courtenay Place Congregational Church, on tho eve of their departure for Palmerston North. Tho proceedings took the form of a complimentary social gathering, and in addition to an attractive programme of musical items, references of a very complimentary nature to tlio guests of the evening were mado by Messrs. Holdsworth (Sunday-school), Thawley (choir), Stephenson (Band of Hope), J. E. Lennox (Aspland Club), Mrs. Remington (Ladies' Society), and Mr. T. E. Reynolds (secretary). Mr. Reynolds, on behalf of those present, presented Mr. Aspland with a gold watch as a mark of esteem, and Mrs. Remington presented Airs. Aspland with an- inscribed cakestand and flower-stand. Tho Revs. Messrs. Reed Glasson, W. A. Evans, and J. Gibson, representing tho ministry, also spolto. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Revs. Kennedy Elliot and A. T. Urainsby. The Rev. A. M. Aspland has been connected with the Courtenay Plaeo Congregational Church for the last eight and a half years, and is now leaving for Palmorston North, where on Wednesday he will bo inducted to tho charge of Emmanuel Church. - The Rev. Archibald E. Hunt, of Timani. is taking eliargo <*f the Courtenay, Place congregation.

In tho introduction to our Parliamentary report yesterday, referring to tho proceedings of Friday night, it was stated, that half a . dozen contentions clauses of the Land Bill were passed without discussion. Obviously this should havo bce:i "non-contentious."
