PRINCE KATSURA, EX-PREMIER OF JAPAN. By Telegraph—Press Association—OorjTijlit Toldo, October 10. Prince Katsnra is dead. Prince Katsnra was born in 1847, and educated at tlio Military School in Prussia. Ho entered tlie Army in ISG7, served in the War of tho Restoration, was military attache to the Japanese Legation at Berlin from 1875 to 1878, visited Germany for military purposes in ISB4, and was vice-Minister of tho Army from 18S9 to 1891. lie achieved army reform, and for a time was Commander-in-Chief of the Third Division of tho Japaneso Army. He served in the Chino-Japanesc War from 1891-1895, was Governor-General of Formosa in 189 G. CHef Commandant of the Toldo Bay Defence from 1890 to IS9B, War Minister from 1898 to 1900, mid Prime Minister from 1901 to 1906, and again in 1908 and 1912.
