Mr. F. Q. Sparks late proprietor of the Throe Stars Theatre, is at present seriously ill, and his condition is causing gravo anxiety. ' At the Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, before Mr. W. R. Haselden, 8.M., a defendant in a civil action stated that he had pajd the amount of the claim, and produced the receipts for the full amount in support of his contention. His Worship intimated that plaintiff could still claim judgment; as no notioe of the defence had been given; but added that defendant was very fortunato in having the case brought before a magistrate, who was prepared to strotch a point, and hear it. Watt and M'Gregor's station, has recovered from tho effects of an operation for appendicitis, and has resumed duty. Some timo ago circulars wore sent to every membor of the 6th Squadron of Mounted Territorials, stating that it was proposed to hold a dismounted camp at Hun'torville or Taihapo early in October. Munro, of Mangaweka, was found pinned beneath an express delivory wagon on tho Kawhatau Eoad on Tuesday night, at about 10 o'clock. Ho wasi released by Messrs. Smith Brothers, one of whom came to town for medical assistapco. O'Dea, had beon in his perilous plight for more than an hour, and on being released it was discovered that he had sustained a broken Tib, iu addition to numerous cuts and bruises. His condition iB not serious.
