TECHNICAL DAY CLASSES. It is tho intention of the_ Petono Technical School Board to wait on the Minister of Education with regard to the reguirements of the school. A Petone borough councillor of an inventive frame of mind intends to bring forward a suggestion at next Monday's meeting of tho council as to tho feasibility of utilising tho sewerage septic tank, recently completed, as a swimming bath until such time as tho seweraao scheme will be finished and tho. "tank will be wanted for its ordinary purpose. The soptic tank is capable of holding several million gallons of water. The proposal if carried out however is not likely to bo taken advantage of to any great extent, as the majority of people_ would much prefer the opon sea dip which the Petone beach affords. Moreover, the septic tank is not very • conveniently sifuated, being about two miles from tho town. LOWER HUTT COURT. At tho Lower Hutt Police Court yesterday morning, before Messrs. Chapman and James. J.P.'s, Arthur Mudg-/ way was charged with being chunk, and with "resisting the police and damaging the constable's uniform to the extent of 225. 6d. For the first offence he was fined 55., whilo for resisting the police he was fined £5, tho alternative being fixed at a month's imprisonment. He was also ordered to pay the cost of the damago. The choir, under Mr. E. Ackroyd gave several anthems. GOOD TEMPLARS. The weekly session of the Hope of Petone Lotlgo, 1.0. G.T., was held- on Wednesday evening .a,rid was presided over by Bro. S. Taylor, C.T.T.. Correspondence was dealt with from the District Lodge, and a vote of sympathy was passed to Mr. Nicholls, of Christchurch, in connection with tho death of the late Mr. G. B. Nicholls. HUTT SCHOOL FpNDS. At St. James's Hall, Lower Hutt, last evening a gift social gathering and dance was held, in aid of tho Hutt School funds. It was organised by tho Hutt ex-school girls. There was • a large attendance, and tho chaperones were Mesdames Yeats, Barlow, and Harmon. Mr. AV. Trossider was M.C., and Mrs. Anderson supplied the music. The committee comprised Misses Barlow (2), Bowers, Dudding, Parrant, Tressidor,' and Macaskill (2), and the following contributed items to tho programme: —Misscß G. Kafor, N. Williams, L. Manderson, and L. Barlow. PETONE RIFLE CLUB. The Petono Rifle Club will open its range on Saturday next with a practice match at 300 yards, 500 yards, and 600 yards, seven shots at each. Teams will bo selected by the president and deputypresident on the ra.nee. Latest service targets and a telephone has been installed on the range. MORRIS TUBE MATCH. A Morris tube riflo match was shot off at tho Petono _ Working Men's Club range last ovoning, between tho Wellington Navals and representatives of the Petono Working Men's Club. The match resulted in n win for the Navals by ten points.
