Mr. William Cook, experimenting with six thousand Orpington hens in electriclighted hen-houses, in tho early evening and morning, thus artificially lengthening tlio liens' day, found that tho output of eggs increased by 30 and 40 per cent, wliilo tlid growth of young chickens in winter was accelerated by one-third.
