SETTLING THE LAND.
Asked yesterday by 3lr. G. W. Rns--801 l whether the Government had any further proposals than tlioso disclosed in the Land Bill to promote settlement, more settlement, and still moro settlement, tho Prime Minister replied: "B.v tlio vigorous administration of the Land for. Settlements Act and tho Land Settlement Finance Acts, the operations of the graduated tax, tho purchaso of Native land not required for the maintenance of tho Native people, tho openingup and roading of Crown lands, along with tho genuinely liberal provisions and tho security of tenure provided by tho Land Bill now before Parliament, the Government are confident of satisfactorily 'promoting settlement, moro settlement, and still moro settlement 1"
