The Now Zealand Loan mid Mercnntilo Agency Co. report:—We held our weekly suit! at Solway yards, Jlnslerton, on Wednesday, when we submitted a good yarding of sliccp an<l a fair one of cattle to the usual attendance of buyers. Competition waa hardly i>o animated as at the previous sales, tills no doubt being due to tiiu continued dry weather. Nevertheless, wn made a good clearance, though at slightly reduced rates. At tho Addington live stock market there were modorat" entries of stock, exccpt in fat cattle nncl fat lambs, which formed, larger yardings. T.here was a fair attendance. Beef was eaeier by 2s. per ICOlb., and thero ra also a considerable drop in tlio prieo of fat lambs. Very little business was dono in storo sheep, 011 account of tile high reserves. Fat sheep were • firmer. Bucoti pigs Hold at last week's high rates, and porkcrr-' were eti 1.1 dearer. Store slieep prices ruled up to about tho level of the recent sales, but in most instances tho reserves fixed by sellers were about 011. a parity of current sales. with tho result that a nnmber of lines were rasscd. BURNSIDE MAHKET. Dunodin, October 8. At. Burnsida market to-day 252 fat cattle wero yarded. At the commencement of the sale prices wero 255. per head easier than last week, but, several pens being paased, they firmed up to within 10s. per head of last week's rates. The yarding 011 tho whole consisted of wcll-fmlshcd bullocks. Extra heavy bullocks, to £15 Zs. 6d.; good bullocks, £11 lCs. to £14; medium bullocks, £9 to £10 10s.; extra heavy heifers, to £13 17s. 6d.; good heifers, £8 lCs. to £10 15s. Fat sheep: 2250 yarded, comprising many pons of exceptionally good wethers. Prices at tlio beginning of the tale wero Is. Gd. per head lower than last week's rates, but towards tho end. New season's lambs were penned, and sold at from £1 Bs. to £1 lis. per head. Thero was a-fair yarding of fat and stare pigs. All eorts were in goad demand, and sold at very satisfactory prices.
